Warm Space, Warm Welcome

The Calon y Fferi Community Centre in Ferryside recently launched its new ‘Warm Space’ as it looks to tackle the cost-of-living crisis by offering local residents a warm, dry place to socialise.

The new Community Lounge will be open every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 10.00am – 4.00pm and avaialble up until the end of March 2023.

Julia Amsbury, community centre manager, said: “As the cost-of-living crisis bites harder for so many, our Warm Space is based on a simple idea: turn off your heating and come and use ours instead. There’s plenty for people to do, we have board games, papers, a television and the free use of a computer, everyone is invited – young and old. There’ll be a warm welcome, friendly chat, free refreshments as well as the chance to socialise and meet new people”.

With assistance from Carmarthenshire County Council, Calon y Fferi is establishing a Warm Lounge until the end of March 2023.
